"Hardwired for Success"

The municipality of Squamish – one of Canada’s most picturesque – was in dire need of improvements for many of its systems. Its motto – “hardwired for adventure” – hints at a strong appreciation of the technological infrastructure that supports its residents ability to safely enjoy its stunning scenery and unique culture.
But to be truly “hardwired” for success, its local network and metropolitan infrastructure needed to be modernized, updated, and audited to ensure that its residents could get the best out of their special home.
Based on a strong background in management and advisory in the IT sphere, Mindfield entered the project to provide consulting and strategy on the municipality’s outdated IT infrastructure: from a network level all the way up to software solutions.
Above all, the municipality needed to lower costs: running unchanged for many years, the IT bill was financially unsustainable. The problem was clear, but the solution would take exceptional experience and application to address efficiently. Enter Mindfield Consulting.

Building the Solution

Above all, the municipality needed to lower costs: running unchanged for many years, the IT bill was financially unsustainable. The problem was clear, but the solution would take a critical eye and a keen attention detail to address properly.
At the outset of any project, Mindfield Consulting’s approach involves inspecting the fundamentals: what systems are absolutely critical to keep? Which ones are even needed in the first place?
These questions guided Mindfield’s search for success as a blueprint for the project was rapidly sketched and critical areas for improvement immediately targeted. The first phase built off of one-on-one interviews with key figures to identify all the relevant sites and operations serving the municipality.
Then came the discovery phase. Drawing on years of experience in on-site assessments, Mindfield conducted site visits for every single location with IT infrastructure – including fiber optic, radio, and other digital technologies.

Exceptional experience, expert results.

Following a high-level security audit, Mindfield performed a needs analysis to create a detailed report defining how to simplify and optimize the district’s IT across the board. This means gathering metrics. What services is the city promising its citizens? What are the KPIs that measure the success of those offerings?
To truly quantify success, these empirical measurements would serve as the barometer for the project’s accomplishments. Marrying the information from on-site inspections, interviews, and other data sources for the needs analysis with measurable KPIs defined by the municipality, Mindfield’s expert analysis delivered immediate results.
